Can Liverpool Finish January Stronger Without Coutinho?
The Reds’ have been in fine form in the past few weeks with Jurgen Klopp’s christmas rotation paying dividends with 3 wins in the Premier League. Liverpool now have a squad full of players who are fit and in form, just a year from where it all went wrong.
However, with the January transfer window the Coutinho saga rumbles on and it now seems that he will be playing at the Nou Camp sooner rather than later. This would be a huge loss and with champions league qualification in the balance could be a catastrophic blow nut the 75 million that they have laid out on Van Dijk should certainly soften the blow.
LIVERPOOL BACK WITH THE BIG BOYS
There is no doubt that Van Dijk is a fantastic signing for the reds courted by Man City and Chelsea the 6ft 4in Dutchman is a natural leader and will sure up the leaky Liverpool defence. Almost more importantly is the statement that this signing has made. Paying a world record fee for a defender Liverpool have announced themselves as willing to compete with any club in the world both on the pitch and off it. If Coutinho was to leave then they need to break their transfer record again in January and sign a marquee player. This is where Thomas Lemar comes in where fees of £90 million have been touted, one of Europe’s most mercurial talents and at 22 someone that could become a key player as Coutinho proved when he came from Inter Milan.
We all remember the offer that Arsenal made for Luis Suarez to activate a release clause and now it might be time for revenge. With Alexis Sanchez’s due to leave on a free they are said to be willing to listen to offers upwards of £25 million. Liverpool have now overtaken Arsenal and Tottenham but poaching Arsenal’s best player would still prove to be a major coup and there is no doubt that Sanchez would slot straight into the Liverpool side.
